Wanna Go Behind the Scenes at Disney?

I think the real question is...who wouldn't want to go behind the scenes at Disneyworld?  I know I would in a heart beat.

Good news is attendees who register for the full conference at AutomationWeek 2012 will be doing just that - getting an exclusive technical tour of Disney World behind the scenes.  Here's a snapshot of what is being planned:

Tour 1: Mission: SPACE and Test Track at EPCOT®
Monday, 24 September
12:30 p.m.–2:30 p.m.

This tour will showcase two high energy attractions. The tour will visit the maintenance bay of each location, where the advanced safety systems and attractions controls and motors are located. There will be an opportunity to ride both attractions and a question and answer session with our one of the leading attractions safety engineers Greg B. Hale, chief safety officer and vice president, worldwide standards and auditing, with Walt Disney Parks & Resorts and ISA.

Tour 2: Lights, Motors, Action! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®
Monday, 24 September 24
3:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.

This tour will focus on the safety and technical components involved in a stunt show. There will be a backstage component where we will visit the ‘garage’ where they work on the very specialized stunt cars, a visit to the costuming building where the drivers store all of their safety gear and the zone where the flame suit is prepared, a tour of the set, and a viewing of the stunt show from VIP seating. Time will be included to ask questions to our pyrotechnics and entertainment special effects subject matter expert.

“ISA Automation Week has become the gathering place for technical information, networking and best practices for automation professionals worldwide,” said Dr. Peter Martin, ISA Automation Week 2012 program chair. “Innovations in the annual event continue with the addition of seeing automation technology applied in a different setting. We are truly excited to be able to offer these technology tours to attendees” he added.
