Keynote Speakers

Christopher Guith, vice president for policy at the US Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for 21st Century Energy

Guith will discuss how the US Chamber of Commerce plays a key role in addressing issues of developing energy policies with members of US Congress. Many experts within the US government and industry have stressed the urgency of developing sound energy projects in the wake of many delayed or cancelled projects. Energy security is a key area of focus for the Chamber’s Institute for 21st Century Energy; Guith is responsible for developing and implementing the Institute’s policies and initiatives as they apply to the legislative, executive and regulatory bodies of the federal and state US governments.

Previously, Guith served as the deputy assistant secretary for nuclear energy at the Department of Energy (DOE), where he worked to develop the administration’s nuclear energy policy and coordinated the DOE’s interactions with the US Congress, stakeholders and the media. He also served as the deputy assistant secretary for Congressional Affairs at the DOE, focusing on energy policy. While at the DOE, he was a chief representative of the administration during the drafting and debate of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

Allan Wilson, president and CEO of Veros Systems, Inc.

Wilson’s keynote is entitled “When Worlds Collide – Opportunities for Innovation Exist.” It focuses on future innovation opportunities in power generation, including nuclear, gas, solar, coal and wind sources. Wilson will explore the convergence of enterprise business systems, process control systems, mobile technologies, social networks and other emerging applications in the context of next generation power plants.

In his role as President and CEO of Veros Systems, Wilson and his team provide predictive intelligence solutions to the oil and gas, energy and utilities industries. He also held positions at SAP, including an assignment at SAP headquarters in Germany, reporting to the Office of the COO for strategic programs associated with new product innovation. Prior, he served as CEO and chairman of the board of Factory Logic, a software company specializing in lean business processes. Factory Logic was purchased by SAP in 2006.
