AutoQuiz: What Process Confirms That a Company Meets the Needs of Customers and Complies With Statutory and Regulatory Requirements?

AutoQuiz is edited by Joel Don, ISA's social media community manager.

This automation industry quiz question comes from the ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) program. Certified Control System Technicians calibrate, document, troubleshoot, and repair/replace instrumentation for systems that measure and control level, temperature, pressure, flow, and other process variables. Click this link for more information about the CCST program.

Which process confirms that a company (1) documents what it does, (2) does what it documents, and (3) documents that it did it.

a) ISA12.11
b) ISO 9000
c) NFPA: 70-84
d) CENELEC
e) none of the above

ISO 9000 is a family of international quality management systems standards designed to help organizations ensure that they meet the needs of customers and other stakeholders while meeting statutory and regulatory requirements related to a product or service. In short, this standard verifies that a company has a set of written procedures for manufacturing its product or service, that it follows these procedures 100 percent of the time, and that it documents that these procedures have been followed.

ISA12 is a group of standards relating to electrical equipment in hazardous (classified) locations. NFPA: 70-84 is the National Electrical Code (NEC). CENELEC is the European Community for Electrotechnical Standardization electrical standard.

The correct answer is B, "ISO 9000."
